eBates Daily Double - 123 Inkjets 36% Cash Back

Today's eBates Daily Double is a really good one if you plan on selling a lot of eBay items in the future. You will need a lot of ink to print off those shipping labels. And if you you don't need a lot of ink because you still bring your packages to the post office then you will still need a lot of ink to type the words I am wasting my time by going to the Post Office to drop off packages 1000 times a day. That is your punishment.

So head over to eBates and if you are not a member sign up here. Once you sign up you must go through the eBates home page and click on the 123 Inkjets store. That is the only way you will receive your 36% cash back. Plus they are offering an extra 15% off select ink and free shipping on orders over $55.00. So stack up on bunch of ink today.

Plus you can also get cash back through eBates on your eBay purchases. So sign up below or you are just throwing away free money.

The Golf Shirt Bible

I am constantly researching new ways and looking for products that will help me make money on eBay. My wife thinks the laptop is a growth off my body because I am always on it. I come across a lot of eBay related junk being sold out there. I would love to challenge some of these people to an eBay selling competition. Most of them have probably never sold anything on eBay. But one seller who always comes up with unique ways and products that make money on eBay is Suzanne Wells - The eBay Selling Coach

Her eBook The Golf Shirt Bible is a great resource for us real eBay sellers out there who are always looking for products to make a profit on. I just finished reading the book and I feel a lot more confident when I browse through the Polo/Golf Shirt section. There is good money to be had here and nobody knows that better than Suzanne who has sold over 10,000 golf shirts. Suzanne is one seller who can always back up her products.

And who better to share her TIME SAVING tips than Danna. Here is a short video about Danna.

I am a member of http://www.virtualonlinelearning.com/ which was started by Danna in 2009. It is a great site where everyone shares ideas and learns from each other. Every time I visit the site I get more and more motivated to become a better eBayer so I strongly recommend that you join.

Woot Deal of the Day - July 8 2010

There is a good deal going on at Woot.com today.

You might want to take a chance buying this to re-sell on eBay or Amazon. Though not many results on eBay right now (and that can change after this woot deal) one did sell recently for $116.99 and that is also the lowest Buy It Now price currently listed. Meanwile on Amazon the cheapest is $110.00 on Amazon Marketplace, with Amazon itself selling it for $132.01

***Priority Mail Shipping Tip***

I discovered this money saving tip when shipping Priority Mail. So spread the word.

If you ship a lot of mid-sized items using the 12" x 12" x 8" Priority Mail Box O-BOX7, you should check first to see if the item will fit into the 7.5 X 5.125 X 14.375 Priority Mail Shoe Box .

The Shoe Box only weighs 5.8oz compared to the 12'x12"x8" which weighs 13oz unpacked.

It may not seem like a lot, but if it means the difference between an item that weighs 2 lbs in the 12"x12'x8' box that could of been less than 2 lbs in the Shoe Box, that will save you a few bucks when shipping coast to coast. And every little bit helps.

Check out a couple of my eHow articles on shipping.

White Castle Candle Update

After originally purchasing 8 White Castle candles on Saturday afternoon, I picked up the last 7 that my local White Castle had today. I sold all 15 within 24 hours at a price of $28.99

Not bad for the amount of work put in so far, (the real work will be shipping them all on Monday) I made a profit of $11.25 on each candle x 15 = $168.75. Luckily I have a large supply of 6x4x3 boxes and the candles fit in perfectly and weigh 12oz. Perfect because I offered Free Shipping and can ship them First Class instead of Priority.

You need to take advantage of things like this in the future. This was perfect because not every state has a White Castle and once they sold out online of course people were going to turn to eBay to buy them.

Just like Championship editions of Newspapers. When the Yankees won the World Series last year, copies of NY newspapers were selling for $8-$10.00 each on eBay. Not a bad return on a paper that cost just .50 cents.

So keep an eye out for things specific to your local area that someone else might not be able to get in their own hometown.

Come back tomorrow for my Cell phone Find of the week and I am working on a possible new item that is coming out that might be a good seller on eBay, but not 100% sure yet. I will post on that during the week after a little more research.

Good Luck

Item 2 Sell on eBay Now - White Castle Scented Candles

These White Castle scented candles sold out online within 48 hours. They retail for $10.00 each. So of course as soon as I heard the news, I checked to see how they are doing on eBay. They are going between $21.99 and $28.99 based on whether or not the seller offers free shipping.

This is going to be a hard one to read. I am not sure how many people who purchased them online are going to resell them on eBay or if White Castle is going to restock them online anytime soon.
So if you live in one of these states (IL, IN, KY, MI, MN, MO, NJ, NY, OH, TN, WI) and have a White Castle nearby you may want to run out and purchase a few to resell. Remember don't get greedy because eBay may be flooded with these soon. Set them at a reasonable price.

Here is my listing below.

Proceeds for the sale of these candles go to Autism Speaks, so you are also doing some good while making some money for yourself. It's a "win win" situation.

Good Luck,

John Paul

Cell Phone Find of the Week #8

Marlboro Classics Leather Belt

Purchased for $1.99
Sold for $23.48
Profit after eBay fees $$18.01 (almost doubled my goal of $10.00 profit per item)

I almost passed up on this one. I have never checked the belt display rack before and as I was leaving the thrift store the belt buckle caught my eye. I proceeded to checkout and when I got to my car, I decided to run a search on my cell phone for Marlboro Classic Belts.

I found that these belts were not big sellers in the U.S. but new ones are listed on the eBay U.K. site and they retail for £145. So I went back into the store and took a shot. And guess where the winning bidder lives? The United Kingdom.

If you are not shipping internationally, you are missing out on millions of potential buyers. 15-20% of my sales are overseas. People in Europe & Asia love vintage clothing and American brand jeans.

Good Luck,

John Paul

Cell Phone Find of the Week #4 & #5

I didn't post a new Cell Phone Find of the Week last Monday, I was really busy the week of April 29 (cut me some slack i am expecting my first child in May =+0) so I am posting 2 finds for this week. My goal will still be 52 finds for the year, so even if I miss a week I will still get 52 new items out their to my readers which adds up to 1 a week.

If you are unfamiliar with the Cell Phone Find of the Week refer to my first cell phone post for all the details.

First Up: Cell Phone Find #4

Kiton Men's Dress Shirt
Purchased for $3.00
Sold for $69.00
Total Profit after all eBay Fees (spring 2010 updated) $57.72

Kiton shirts are all handmade and some retail for $800.00+ WOW!!

A nice little find for an item that was not on my Thrift Store radar. This will probably be in the running for my Thrift Store Find of the Month for April, but it's still early.

Cell Phone Find of the Week #5

J Press Men's Shirt

Purchased for $2.99

Sold for $14.50

Total Profit after eBay fees (Spring 2010 updated) $9.08

OK, so I fell a little short on my goal which I set for myself of $10.00 profit per item that i purchase at a Thrift Store. But I did learn a new name that if I come across a shirt next time I might list as Buy It Now so i know I will meet my $10.00 profit. Plus I see J Press Blazers are good sellers as well.

Good Luck

Install The Swagbucks Toolbar

If you have not signed up for Swagbucks yet then you should take a few minutes to sign up after you finish reading this post and calling all your friends to tell them about my blog.

This is taken from the Swagbucks website:

Swagbucks is a search engine that offers you the chance to win cool prizes from swagbucks.com every time you search

OK, so how is this eBay related. Easy. Once you earn enough swagbucks you can redeem them for prizes like Amazon and Starbucks gift cards. Gift cards typically hold their value on eBay. So go ahead and list them and earn some cash. It's that easy.

Plus if you install the Swagbucks toolbar you can win without even using Swagbucks. You have a chance whenever you use the Internet, just make sure you stay logged into Swagbucks.

Good Luck,

Design Your Own Product 2 Sell on eBay

You might be thinking I'm not creative enough or artistic enough to make my own products to sell. It's just not true. And if you are too busy you probably know someone who you can form a partnership with by taking care of the eBay part of the business while they make the products. Here is some examples that might get your started in the right direction.

OK first up is this custom made lamp that I made which actually sold on Amazon for $60.00

Nothing crazy. It cost me about $18.oo to make (die cast model, shade, lamp parts and a log that I got for free from my property in upstate NY)

People create all kinds of automobile related items to sell on eBay. Check out these car die cast key chains offered from one seller.

Here is another interesting idea that I love.

Custom made party invitations. Sports, Movies, Music etc.

It was hard for me to post the Yankees as an example because I'm a Mets Fan, but the Yankees are a more popular team worldwide and they sell better. You can create invitations for the hot trend at the time. I would say Justin Bieber is popular with the little ones now.

Door Wreaths:

Silk Floral Wreaths are excellent sellers on eBay consistently selling for $75.00 and up

They are not that hard to make if you have a good eye. A grapevine wreath some silk flowers and a decoration for the center. All sold at Michael's. I would recommend creating a few wreaths first, it might take a little while to build up a following, but once you do you might have a successful wreath design business.

Source for eBay Inventory - Saks.com

OK, this will take some work on your part, but there are deals to be had on the Saks Fifth Avenue website. I would not spend a whole lot of time on this, but if you browse the Saks.com Sale section you can occasionally find some good deals. Keep reading and I will show you one of the deals that I found, I will also give you an item that is not on sale that you can resell on eBay right now.

Here is my purchase of a Saks San Francisco Snow Globe for $20.00

I sold the item on eBay for $75.00 Buy It Now within a couple of days of listing it.

A nice little profit especially since I used eBates for 5% cash back and qualified for free shipping.

If you go to the Saks website right now the New York City Snow Globe is up for $40.00. This item should go for at least $70.00 on eBay. Click here for eBay Research to check completed items since a NY Globe has not sold in the past 30 days, so you won't find it on eBay. I know one sold a couple of months ago for $70.00 + and I have had an eBay overseas buyer e-mail me asking if I had one to sell.

You can check the Saks website daily for new sales. Items by Eileen Fisher, Juicy Couture and UGG are good sellers on eBay.

Reselling Abercrombie, Hollister & American Eagle T-Shirts in Lots

Add this to your list of ideas for trying to make a profit reselling thrift store items one Bay. I have just started trying this one out and will keep you posted on the results.

Things to Remember
  • only buy t-shirts for $2.00 or less, half-price days are your best bet.
  • sell in lots of 3-5 shirts in similar sizes.
  • start the auction off low (.99) with No Reserve
  • subscribe to my e-mail mailing list to stay updated on more thrift store ideas

For some reason the voice in the video does not sound like me, so I have to work on fixing that.

Deal of the Day Website for the Month of December '09

There are thousands of websites that offer daily deals usually half off the actual retail price (I sound like Drew Carey on the Price is Right). You probably know the most popular site which is Woot.com. ***I have never really made a great sale on eBay buying from Woot, I usually sell Woot.com items on Amazon for a better profit.***
Most of the time if you compare the deal from these websites with what it is selling for on eBay it's not really worth it especially after the eBay fees are taken out. But I have found some really good deals out there. From now on 1-2 times a month I will showcase a new site that might be worth checking out if you want to make some extra money selling the product on eBay. So you won't have to waste hours checking every site you might want to narrow them down to the ones I feature every month.

Here goes:

whatanitem.com

Just check out today's deal.

Motorola Droid Charging Dock for $15.99 plus $5.00 flat shipping.
This is a great deal. In case you don' know by now the Droid is hot. I have one and I LOVE it. These Charging Docks are selling for up to $59.99 on eBay. I would say the avg. selling price is closer to $49.99, but they are selling. Not many unsold auctions. Check out the completed items here.
