Cool Thrift Store Find - Teddy Ruxpin Bear MIB

I had a great couple of days of thrifting last week after a long break. One of my better finds and coolest was this Vintage 1985 Teddy Ruxpin Bear and along with some accessories still sealed. Everybody remembers "Hi! My name is Teddy Ruxpin. Can you and I be friends?" All items came to a little under $17.00. I listed them as a lot last night starting at $149.99 and already have a bid.

Selling Limited Edition/Regional Beer on eBay

There's no other way to put it, but people love beer. That's why Micro-Breweries are popping up everywhere in the US. There are thousands of Beer festivals every year in every state. Heck I even subscribe to Draft Magazine.
Brewers are always coming out with new brews in limited editions and most are only sold regionally. So eBay is a great place to resell some of these beers if they are available in your region.
Some of the more popular breweries that release limited editions that do well are
Sierra Nevada
Dogfish
Sam Adams
Russian River
Brooklyn Brewery
Limited edition beers are typically released in 750ml bottles. So you won't find these sold in 6 packs they will be sold individually.
Of course you are not selling these to drink, you are selling them because they are collectible. You must list the item in the collectible category and state the following in your auction
– The value of the item is in the collectible container, not its contents.
– The container has not been opened and any incidental contents are not intended for consumption.
– The item is not available at any retail outlet.
–The seller will take all appropriate steps to ensure that the buyer is of lawful age in the buyer’s and seller's jurisdiction. In general, this is 21 years of age.
– Both the buyers and sellers ensure that the sale complies with all applicable laws and shipping regulations

My Top 10 Thrift Store Items To Resell on eBay

I put out my first and only eBook last year and recently tweaked it a little bit.

Here is a brief description;

-Reselling thrift store items on eBay has become my specialty. I sell thousands of thrift store items annually to buyers all over the world. If you are looking to make extra money and take your eBay selling to the next level then you should consider reselling thrift store items.

This clothing only guide will help you get started in the right direction. I typically go thrift store shopping about 2 days a week. Every time I step foot into a thrift store I know there are hundreds of potential items that are there for the taking. This e-book lists my top 10 thrift store brands to look for. These are items that I find on a regular basis and are very good sellers on eBay. They are not necessarily my highest profit items, but based on availability and average profit per item they made the list of my top 10.

At the end of this e-book is also a list of my 10 thrift store shopping tips that I believe will really help you if you plan on becoming successful at reselling thrift store items on eBay. I hope you enjoy this e-book and find the information worthwhile.

This eBook is $14.99 and will pay for itself with your first sale of one of the items in my Top 10 list. Click the button below to buy.

I have also started an affiliate program through e-junkie for this eBook that pays you 50% for every one you refer that buys a copy of the book. Click here to sign up for my affiliate program. (Information is at that bottom of the page).

The Golf Shirt Bible

I am constantly researching new ways and looking for products that will help me make money on eBay. My wife thinks the laptop is a growth off my body because I am always on it. I come across a lot of eBay related junk being sold out there. I would love to challenge some of these people to an eBay selling competition. Most of them have probably never sold anything on eBay. But one seller who always comes up with unique ways and products that make money on eBay is Suzanne Wells - The eBay Selling Coach

Her eBook The Golf Shirt Bible is a great resource for us real eBay sellers out there who are always looking for products to make a profit on. I just finished reading the book and I feel a lot more confident when I browse through the Polo/Golf Shirt section. There is good money to be had here and nobody knows that better than Suzanne who has sold over 10,000 golf shirts. Suzanne is one seller who can always back up her products.

Thrift Store Item 2 Sell - Nike Blue Tag Vintage T-Shirts

I have said it many times before on here. Do not skip the t-shirt section at the thrift store. There are many treasures to be had in the .50-$2.00 range. See the end of this post for my best t-shirt find. But today I will be talking about Vintage Nike Blue Tag T-Shirts
These shirts are mostly from the 1980s when Michael Jordan put Nike on the map. Of course the easiest way to recognize one these shirts is the color of the actual inside tag being blue. The most basic design is the word Nike written across the chest with the swoosh underneath.
Here are a few other examples:

So next time you are checking through the T-Shirt section keep an eye out for these. You can also search for these on eBay by checking vintage t-shirt lots. In your title search along with the keywords "vintage t-shirts" include the word "Nike" and check off the include description box to the right. You never know but someone may have put a blue tag shirt in their lot not know it's true value.
Here is my best thrift store t-shirt find to date. Not too shabby...

Savile Row Men's Suits & Blazers

I must admit the Men's suit section of the Thrift Store is a bit overwhelming. This is the area that I am least familiar with. I have never purchased a full suit and only a dozen or so blazers since I started thrifting. But I have made it a priority to step up my suit game for 2011. I will be sharing what you what I learn along the way.

One mark to look for on the inside label of a sports jacket is anything made on Savile Road. Savile Road is a street in London famous for it's men's bespoke tailoring. Bespoke meaning custom made to the buyer's specification. If you find a label and the item was made on Savile Row take a shot on it assuming that it is in good condition. I have seen used suits selling up to $750 on eBay. Remember Savile Row is just where the suit is made their are several tailors on Savile Row. Run a search on Savile Row Tailors if you want to become more familiar with the designer.

Good Luck,

John Paul

Why Does My Item Have Multiple Bids and No Price Increase

You might have noticed in the past that one of your eBay listings has multiple bids, but the starting price has not increased.
Ever wonder why this happens. There are a couple of reasons.
  1. The bidder might have realized that they want to increase their first bid or more likely

  2. The bidder has placed multiple bids to try and discourage other bidders from placing a bid.

As shown below the same user id has placed 4 bids on my item.

The auction ends tonight, so we'll see if his strategy pays off on this item.
