Hold on to your Zhu Zhu Pet Hamsters

OK, if you are lucky enough to have some Zhu Zhu Hamsters HOLD ON TO THEM. Last week you could use the Buy It Now feature on eBay for a set of 4 for $79.99. Now the cheapest one listed is for $123.99 and they are selling fast at that price. Here is another reason you might want to wait to list them on eBay.

Starting Nov. 16th most of the Zhu Zhu pets sold on Amazon will not be up there which will drive the demand up and turn more buyers to eBay. Here is the part of the e-mail that I received from Amazon where I sold most of the Zhu Zhu hamsters that I had. I bet most people selling the Zhu Zhu hamsters are small sellers and do not meet these requirements.

• Merchant’s first sale on Amazon.com must be prior to 09/16/2009 (sale does not need to be Toy-specific)
  
• Merchant must have processed and shipped at least 25 orders (do not need to be Toy-specific) during the 60 consecutive days preceding 11/1/2009
  
• No greater than 1% short term defect rate as of 11/1/2009
  
• No greater than 2.5% pre-fulfillment cancel rate for the trailing 30-days preceding 11/1/200(

Last Friday my local Toys R Us store was stacked with them and all the accessories, then they were told to take them down and only sell 1 hamster per person to the first 50 people on Saturday. I don't get it, they change up every week and each store is different with there policies. But if you can find them now, you might want to wait a while before you list them on eBay.

Mark Sanchez NY Jets Jersey - Hot on eBay

The New York Jets are off to a 3-0 start after a big win against the Tennessee Titans. Fans are excited about their rookie quarterback and the possibility of bringing them to glory just like Broadway Joe Namath did in 1969.

Jets QB Mark Sanchez jerseys are hot right now on eBay. Out of one thousand,six-hundred and ninety-six current NFL players, eBay has a Mark Sanchez jersey displayed when you visit the Sports Memorabilia, Cards and Fan section of the worlds most popular auction web site. Upon doing a completed items search, the sell through rate on Sanchez Jerseys is very high with only a few jerseys going unsold.

So what does this mean for eBay sellers? If the Jets stay hot and the Mark Sanchez fan base builds up across the country, this jersey will be hard to find around the holidays meaning it could bring in big bucks on eBay at Christmas time. As much as Jets fans dislike Brett Favre, we can only hope he becomes as popular as him. Brett Favre is currently the most searched term in the NFL section of eBay.

Thrift Store item to sell on eBay - Harley Davidson T-Shirts

These are not too hard to find at thrift stores. The best place to look is in the black t-shirt section of the store. They usually cost between a dollar or two. I have even purchased a few for .49 cents on half price days.

It amazes me the stuff that I find at thrift stores. I have found Harley shirts in my New York City thrift store representing Harley dealerships from all over the country from Montana to Arkansas. I guess while Harley owners are hitting the open road, along the way they stop at every Harley Dealership to check out the apparel.

I have included screenshots of two of my recent sales. Not too bad for a t-shirt purchased for less than $2.00. If you are avid thrift er you might want to hold on to the Harley tees and list them in a lot when you get a good group of shirts. I have seen lots of 8 used Harley shirts going for $150.00 and up.

I Love Half.com

Hey Everyone, sorry it has been so long in between posts, but I was away in Alaska (my delayed honeymoon) for a few weeks and since I have returned I have been working long and hard on improving my eBay business http://www.asapsellsit.com/. But I am back now and ready to make this one of the best and most informative eBay blogs out there. Oh yeah before I get to the eBay stuff, if you ever have a chance to go to Alaska, DO IT.College textbooks are big sellers on half.com and here's the proof. I just purchased a Marketing Research textbook (shown above) for $2.00 at my a local thrift store. Listed it on half.com and it sold within 5 minutes for $65.00. Amazing.

Selling used textbooks purchased at a thrift store can be tricky. If you do not have the current edition, chances are it really has no value to anyone, so you need to be careful. A lot of students these days usually sell their books back to the school.

You have 3 ways play the Used Textbook Thrift Store Game.

1. Go to half.com on your cell phone's browser and look up the book while at the thrift store. Make sure you are looking at the right edition.
2. Write down or take photos of the book or ISBN # and look it up at home where you have access to a faster Internet connection
3. Take a Chance... Look at the copyright date and if it is within the last couple of years there is a good chance that the textbook is still being used at colleges today.

The best thing about listing on half.com is you hardly have to do any work. The pictures are already there as well as all the info about your item. All you have to do is descrivbe the condition.

Thrift Store Item 2 Sell - Men's Ties

I have recently started browsing through ties at the Thrift Store. I use to think that the ties were just a waste of time and a real pain because half of ties would usually slide off the rack on to the floor as I was looking for the labels on the backs of the tie.

But when you think about it most ties can be had for less than $1.99 or $.99 on half price days at the Salvation Army. My thrift store goal is to make at least a $5.00 profit on each eBay sale. So you figure after fees you would need to sell a tie for at least $8.00 depending on the purchase price.

A few pictures plus measuring the length and width of the tie and you are all set to list. Ties are easy to ship using USPS first class mail (less than $2.00 for under 4oz using a small mailer). Shipping internationally will be very inexpensive as well. So there is not much work in packaging the tie and shipping it. Overall very easy to work with ties.

OK so here is what you have been waiting for.

WHAT TIES ARE WORTH BUYING AT THE THRIFT STORE?

Obviously if you see a Hermes or Louis Vuitton tie grab it and send me a percentage of the sale because you hit the jackpot, but chances are that will not be a common occurrence. So here are some brands that you might find at your local Thrift Store.

I would start the auctions at $7.99 with no reserve and hopefully you will get lucky and get some interest and have the ties go in the $20-$40 range. But still at $7.99 you made a small profit which is better than no profit.

Best Thrift Store Find for the Month of May 2009.

After a nice month of thrift store sales with quite a few netting a $50.00 profit, it looks like my best find of the month was:

Item cost $9.99

Winning bid $81.00

Fees $7.48

Total Profit $63.53

Not Too Bad. I had never heard of Rag and Bone and I took a chance on a pair of Rag and Bone jeans that I found at a thrift store when I saw that they were handmade. The jeans sold very well. I thought finding another Rag and Bone item would be rare, but then I came across this blazer and now I am $63.53 richer.

Each month I will post my best Thrift Store find during that month. So stay tuned to find out which items you should never pass up...

Thrift Store Item - Vintage Sports T-Shirts

Vintage Professional Sports T-Shirts are great Thrift Store Finds to resell on eBay. As summer approaches everybody wants to look cool in their tight fitting retro tees. T-Shirts usually sell between .99-$2.99 at thrift stores and if you go on half price days JACKPOT!!!!!

Look for vintage team logo shirts and character shirts (jordan, griffey, larry bird, etc.) Championship shirts (for example 1986 Mets, 1991 Bulls) are great sellers.

***You have to be careful with t-shirts, if the material is thin make sure the staples that hold the price tag on the shirt did not cause a hole*** Sometimes it is hard to tell until you get home but it is worth the risk.

As with all thrift store items especially t-shirts check them over 2-3 times before you buy. Check under the arm pits and near the neck for rips.

Saks Fifth Avenue Snow Globes

I did really well with these Saks Snow Globes in January. I purchased them online from SaksFifthAvenue.com during there After Christmas Sale I paid between $20.00-$28.00/each and made some real nice profits. There are Saks Snow Globes for many of the U.S. cities that Saks has a store in. The 3 highest selling globes on eBay are Washington D.C., Boston, and NYC.

The price online has gone back up to $40.00, but you might be able to find these cheaper at a Saks Retail Store if you live in one of those 3 cities. Or try Saks Off Fifth Outlet Stores.

Still at $40.00 (D.C., Boston, NYC) should net you a nice profit with D.C. being the highest. (I sold D.C. for $91.00). Check the Saks website daily and type in snow globes. They seem to restock and run out of the NYC one quite often and the Boston one is up there right now. I saw the D.C. one last week.
